The Problem

There is a high dropout rate in the previous school years due to the various difficult situations of learners: teenage pregnancy, illness, learners in the care of DSWD, employment, that cause them to disengage in school and eventually dropout from the rolls.

The Context

Roxas NHS as a public school accepts all learners coming from its catchment area and beyond. It also practices inclusivity adhering to the principle of  education for all.

Stakeholders Pain Points

LEARNERS

“Umaabsent po ako dahil nilalagnat po ako.”

TEACHERS

“Palagi na lang absent ang learner na ito…laging may sakit, pero nakikita naman ng mga kaklase na pakalat-kalat sa daan”

PARENTS

“Ayaw na po talagang pumasok ng anak ko, nahihiya po dahil sa kalagayan nya ngayon, buntis po sya.”

BARANGAY OFFICIALS

“Wala kasing gumagabay sa mga bata na yan, kasi hiwalay ang mga magulang..di rin nakikinig sa lola”

The Solution

To reach out to learners in difficult situations, the school will:

  • conduct hybrid learning where learners may attend class virtually wherever they are;
  • record lessons (during the hybrid or otherwise) that can be given to learners upon their request (instead of modules)

Challenges

  • Potential for technical issues during online classes
  • High cost of maintaining Hybrid Learning
  • Greater self-discipline for students to better manage their workload
  • Need for teacher training

Needed Resources

  • Auto-tracking camera
  • LMS
  • Lighting fixtures

Monitoring & Evaluation

The monitoring of the conduct of online classes will be done through Google Forms.

The effectiveness of the Hybrid learning shall be monitored through the scores/grades and attendance of remote and in-person learners.
