The Problem
Address the need of students for emotional support from their peers to develop social interaction skills and improve their academic performance.
The Context
“Peer pressure and social norms are powerful influences on behavior, and they are classic excuses.”
–Andrew Lansley
At Quezon Hill National High School, the survey data gathered last August 5, 2024 from grade 7-12 reveals a significant disparity in the focus areas of student needs: Academic (227 responses), Emotional (109 responses), and Social (79 responses).
The relatively high number of responses in the Academic category indicates a strong emphasis on academic concerns, while the lower number of responses in Emotional and Social categories highlights a critical need for emotional support and social interaction skills development among students.
Specifically, the lower response rates in Emotional and Social categories suggest that students may be struggling with emotional well-being and social engagement, which could be impacting their overall academic performance and personal development.
To address these issues, there is a pressing need to implement a support system that enhances emotional well-being through peer support initiatives and fosters social interaction skills.
This approach aims to create a more balanced focus on all aspects of student development, ultimately improving both their academic achievements and social integration.
